WHAT IS CULTURED BUTTER?

Cultured butter is butter that has been made from cream which was treated with cultures, allowed to ferment and then churned. The result is a fuller flavour with noticeable acidity and a tanginess that produces a wonderful sensation on your tongue due to a high butterfat content.

WHAT IS CULTURED BUTTERMILK?

Cultured buttermilk is the byproduct of the butter churning process. It's the liquid left behind after churning butter from our crème fraîche. It is used as a versatile ingredient in cooking such as buttermilk fried chicken, buttermilk pancakes and waffles, scones, etc.

WHAT IS THE BEST BREAD TO EAT WITH ATAS BUTTER?

We recommend plain fresh, warm bread like baguettes or plain crackers. Spread generously to fully experience the flavour of the butter.

HOW SHOULD I STORE THE BUTTER?

Once opened, store the butter in the refrigerator, wrapped or in a covered butter dish. If you wish to store it in the freezer, we suggest wrapping the butter in aluminum foil or in an airtight re-sealable plastic bag before freezing.

HOW DO I SOFTEN BUTTER QUICKLY FOR SPREADING?

It is best to let the butter soften at room temperature for about 15 - 30 minutes. As Singapore is relatively warm, the butter may soften quicker than usual.

WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF YOUR BUTTER?

If stored properly in the refrigerator, it will have a shelf life of 12 weeks.

WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF YOUR BUTTERMILK?

If stored properly in the refrigerator, it will have a shelf life of about 7 - 14 days. As it is fresh buttermilk with no preservatives, it has a shorter shelf-life than those that do.

ISN'T BUTTER BAD FOR YOU?

Yes and no. Like most foods, butter can be a healthy part of your diet if eaten in moderation as it is rich in nutrients like bone-building calcium and contains compounds linked to lower chances of obesity. Butter can also be part of a low-carbohydrate diet, which may help people better maintain their weight or lose weight quicker than they would with a low-fat diet, among other things.

IS ATAS BUTTER HALAL-CERTIFIED?

We are not halal-certified and our ingredients are not halal. However, we do not use any pork or lard products in our production process.

CAN I USE YOUR BUTTER FOR BAKING?

You could but we do not recommend it as our butters are hand churned so each batch has mild differences and may not be consistent for baking. Our butters are best used as a table butter to be shared and enjoyed by friends and family.

IS ATAS BUTTER VEGAN OR VEGETARIAN?

Our butter comes from the dairy of cows so it is not vegan but is vegetarian. However, our kombu butter is neither vegan nor vegetarian.
